London-based West African restaurant selects Ebb & Flow
See this cheerful restaurant refurb and makeover…
of a well-known, community restaurant focused around the warm and stylish glass and gold pendants from the Danish Ebb & Flow stable supplied by lighting specialists Moonbeam Lighting.
The restaurant owner’s requirements:
The 805 Restaurants Group of authentic West African cuisine restaurants is located in Nigeria and Ghana as well as in London and Reading. When owner Jason Jones was looking to update the group’s flagship London NW4 branch in Hendon he wanted to add a fresh new look. High on the remodelling list was to replace and improve the previously out-dated lighting both functionally and decoratively. Working together, Moonbeam Lighting and Jason selected a combination of two iconic designs from the Danish designers and manufacturers Ebb & Flow.
Jason says, ‘We intended to replace the existing copper and wood lighting with the designs from Ebb & Flow to inject some opulence into our design, steering away from a casual look.’
The solution – LUTE by Ebb & Flow
A high priority was to introduce above-table glass pendants from the very sophisticated LUTE family of hanging lights.
Lute’s name derives from its resemblance to the Lute musical instrument and is appropriately curvaceous. What’s more, the Lute is available in three sizes from 14cm in diameter to 31cm. Made from mouth-blown glass, it comes in over 20 different and appealing colours with the contrasting metallic element in gold, platinum or copper.
To blend with the rest of the restaurant’s colour scheme, Jason chose the Lute combination of sultry Golden Smoke glass with Gold in the medium-sized 22cm diameter version.
… matched with PILLAR
One of the beauties of the Ebb & Flow range is the number of other designs available that share a symmetry with Lute and are available in the same colourways. To capitalise on this, Jason selected the lighting above the central core of the restaurant to be another Ebb & Flow stalwart, the PILLAR pendant light, but which has a more solid appearance.
Pillar also combines mouth blown glass with metallic decoration – in this case striped. And so, the same Golden Smoke glass with Gold metallic was selected.
Re-opening for business
The restaurant with its newly completed look shows a strong festive glow as reflected below in the Gold metallic of the Pillar pendant and in our other images taken shortly after installation in the run up to last Christmas.
Moonbeam Lighting is grateful to Jason at 805 Restaurants for all his assistance in this project.
